The new one looks like AI generated. Everything is too glossy and sharp.
Because it is AI. All the graphics in this game are but the author hides that fact and deletes the posts about it.
The dev has openly said they were originally AI generated. But I believe the new ones are hand edited by an Itch user named stalnoyhui who had posted some edits similar to this a few days ago on the main page's comments board if you go look. He had offered to edit the photos saying "I can hand edit these for you to look like this."
That’s right, I’ve often times explained the process of generating the photos with AI and overpainting them. I’ve also marked this game on itch.io as using GenerativeAI for Graphics.
I’m only deleting spam comments like “ai shit”. All other dialogs and questions are welcome.
I’m currently getting support from multiple people on this project. Some great minds that have helped me with migrating to a new model and also created some assets. You’ll see much more of that in future updates.
I’m against AI art in the final product, but there always seems to be a bunch of witch hunting of things that “feel like AI to me.” The fact that people are calling the new ones AI when it was the old one that was AI is yet another example of this.
Both look AI generated, but the new one more so, because of a specific art style which is extremely popular for AI generated pictures.
Is this the work of stalnoyhui who was asking to help out with pictures not to long ago. It looks good whoever did it
I assumed it was them as well. The one someone said "let him cook" to.
Dope!!
Nice
nooooo I liked how she looked but I understand
I feel this. The shading on the legs and details on the clothing on the right image is much better, but the face and eyes, and even the shape and style of the hair on the left image are more appealing to me. She went from the classic 'strong silent' trope look to a more 'shy bashful' trope look.
Also, she appears to have had a career change lol. Left image you can see an apron of sorts behind the bottom of the skirt and see the classic top of it on her backside. Neither are there in the right image, so she became a schoolgirl suddenly?
Also the image on the right is in full focus. The image on the left, everything above the skirt is out of focus. Which would make sense for this picture
What? No. I think this a pretty wild comment. None of this was made by a human, the one on the right is just a more accurate version of what it was always meant to be. The "apron" is not an apron at all, it's another skirt falsely generated by the AI used.
The "strong silent" eyes seem just messy to me, one of the key signs of bad AI. It's hard to even tell where the eye is in the first place. On the right, it at least looks like she has one. Also the clothing has way more definition now, which by all means is an objective improvement. Just like the hair.
So, I must disagree with your opinion and pretty hard at that too. And this is not even mentioning the actual panty rework, which fixes the straight-up incorrect location of the vagina. Everything is just nicer and cleaner. Would you still have the same opinion if instead the old design was the new one? Would you still think it looks better? I for one, highly doubt it.
I said the detail of the clothes looks better. I even started with that, what the hell are you even debating there? You're arguing with yourself on that point. I wasn't debating that. The girl dropped from twenty-something to looking like jail bait in the face, first of all. Her hair and face went from mature silent type to Shinobu of Love Hina kind of timid mousy. It changed the female into an entirely different one. There is a difference between 'upgrading detail' and 'changing a character completely'. As for me saying I think the left one looks better, I didn't say that. Nowhere did I even imply it. All I said is I prefer the more mature characteristics to the childish bashful ones. They both have ups and downs, I just detailed both. Clothing and shading is better on right. Mature look is better on left, including the inability to see the eye well as if you ever used a camera you'd know that focusing on the foreground blurs the background slightly, even on nearby objects and even with extremely high-end cameras.
These are all valid comments, eg I’ve always been experimenting with different strength of the depth of field effect that I’m adding to the image to simulate the focus of the camera.
I feel like I should turn it down to allow the user to see more details, like how she is looking back at the viewer. But this is definitely not a completed process.
As to her looking younger: that’s not the main intention. I always avoid school uniforms in these pictures because I don’t want them to appear underage. This is a tweak you can see here where I’ve removed the part on her back to avoid it looking like a sailor uniform.
I see how the softer shading on her face can make her look younger and I’ll make sure to have enough diversity in these looks.
One thing I want to mention that I'm not sure you're implying or not, is that the girl shouldn't be looking at the camera in the first place. It's supposed to be a secret shot, and after you successfully take it, she doesn't react to it. I feel like her not looking at the camera should be a pretty clear change, from both a logical and a gameplay standpoint.
